Origin68 is the brainchild of two Manchester based tshirt enthusiasts Matt Mckinney and Harry Garnham. Buoyed on by their hippy ideals that a tshirt can change the world they set to work designing their art.

“We believe in the concept of wearable art, designs that provoke thought in people and make some kind of comment about the world in which we live in. We yearned for a day when wearing a t-shirt allowed us to express a response to our environment, surroundings, culture, society and hopefully make us look half decent whilst we did it. Seeing as nobody else was doing it, we did it ourselves. It’s not just about fashion, it ‘s about who we are as people… it’s our philosophy. “

'The Academic'

Matt graduated from the internationally renowned University of Spurtnip in 1968 with a first class degree in T-Shirt Science & Philosophy.

From this point onwards it would be his dream to create his own online tshirt shop. Strange you might think, but he was such an enigma that he had already 'realised' the potential of the internet way back in '68 before it even existed. However, it wasn't all plain sailing. He was soon to fall in with a bad hippy crowd and spent the next 30 years of his life in the wilderness (Chedburgh, Suffolk (google earth it)) listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash records and eating Coco Pops.

In 2007 after several years in rehab he finally got his shizzle together, joined his long time pal Harry and launched the Origin68 label.

Harry

'The Dealer'

Harry grew up on the tough streets of Hell's Kitchen. On those streets the only language anyone understood was cold, hard, t-shirts. That's where Harry learnt his trade, dealing t-shirts to feed his family and keep his own spiralling shirt addiction in check.

Eventually this constant abuse took its toll and Harry was sent to Chedburgh, England to a rehab centre for recovering t-shirt addicts. This was where he met Matt, working as a counsellor.

A beautiful dream was born in those dark depths which eventually manifested itself on this very screen-box.
